These Temporary Fire Restrictions will become effective at 5:00 P.M. on May 10, 2012, and shall remain in effect until superseded or repealed.  These restrictions apply to all lands in unincorporated Jefferson County.

Citizens seek sampling of air for radioactivity in area at Rocky Flats

On Tuesday, local citizens asked the elected officials of Arvada, Broomfield, Westminster, Golden and Superior to request that EPA and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment test airborne dust for its radioactive content in the area at Rocky Flats intended for construction of the Jefferson Parkway.

Udall presses Energy Secretary on urgency of extending tax credits for wind and other renewables

On Thursday, during a hearing about the president's proposed budget in the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Mark Udall questioned Energy Secretary Steven Chu about the importance of extending the expiring tax credits for wind energy production and other renewable energy sources.  Thousands of Coloradans work in the wind energy industry, but the industry could be seriously affected if the tax credits expire at the end of the year as scheduled.

Udall urges Congress to extend tax credit for wind energy as part of payroll extension

On Tuesday, on the heels of President Obama's call on Congress to extend the payroll tax cut, Mark Udall renewed his push to include the extension of wind energy production tax credits (PTC) in the overall legislation. 

Safe drilling bills die in House Committee

A pair of bills sponsored by House Democrats to give Coloradans more protection from  oil and gas drilling near their homes died today in the House Local Government Committee.
