About Us
Dr. Hot Licks' School of Guitar (founded by the World's Fastest Guitar Player) specializes in guitar, bass, and drum lessons. If rock and metal music is what you love and wish to learn then you've come to the right place! All of the instructors' musical backgrounds are in rock and metal.
Our mission at Dr. Hot Licks' School of Guitar is to provide the instruction and information necessary for our students to realize whatever musical ambitions each may have. Our instructors are passionate about what they day and that passion is evidenced in the smiles of our students and their visible improvement in their guitar, bass or drum skills.

Instructors
John "Dr. Hot Licks" Taylor - Guitar and Bass Teacher: I have a serious passion for music. Music is my life, and I want to share that with everyone I can. My musical background is primarily in rock and metal, with additional influences from such genres as jazz, blues, soundscapes, trip-hop, etc.
I started teaching my first student back in 2001. Throughout my musical career I have played live, recorded commercial music, recorded with bands I've been in and still am a part of, recorded my own solo work, and of course, taught several students
On 2/11/11 the Universal Record Database recognized me as the
Fastest Guitar Player in the world for playing Flight of the Bumblebee at 420 BPM. On 5/4/11 URDB accepted my latest attempt at 600 BPM for the current record
Adam Knowles (Student Guitar Teacher): I have been taking guitar lessons from John Taylor for a while now. Ever since I have started lessons with him I have grown as a guitarist ten fold more than any of my other teachers, and I have had a lot of guitar teachers.
Music is my life as well as guitar. I have been playing guitar for over 7 years now. I started when I was about 13 years old.
I feel confident to teach beginners who want to move up in skill. I will be able to teach you about anything you want, and if I don't know it I will have John Taylor on my side to make sure you learn anything you wish to on the guitar.
Brent Boutte' - Drum Teacher: Growing up in a household with drums gave me an advantage. My Dad had a drum set ever since I was born so I played them whenever I could. Finally, after 8th Grade, I received my first drum kit from my Dad. Ever since then it has been full force!!
Shortly after that I became a drum tech for a local band called Cymetre for three years. I learned a great amount about drumming, stage handling, performance, etc.
Music is my life and always will be. Currently I'm playing in two bands, performing live, and have recorded an EP. I love to teach people new things; anything from drumming from the heart to crushing double bass and blasts.
